The lighthouse at Capo Ferro

The Capo Ferro Peninsular is the northernmost point of the Costa Smeralda, a few kilometres from the typical small village of Baja Sardinia. It faces towards the Straits of Bonifacio and looks out over the little islands of Cappuccini and Bisce. In 1858 construction started on the lighthouse of the same name, 40 mts high, located on the steep cliffs above the sea and covering the maritime sector from Punta Sardegna to Capo Figari. A still unspoilt stretch of nature near Cannigione, the ideal destination for trekking in Costa Smeralda!

The Stagno di Saloni and birdwatching

For nature lovers and for those who want to observe the natural flora and fauna of Sardinia with its unique native species, a particularly special place is the ‘stagno di Saloni’. A site of significant natural importance with luxuriant varied vegetation and inhabited by a good 136 species of birds including some rare ones such as the red heron, osprey and black stork. Near Arzachena is the nuraghic complex known as la Prijona, an extremely important archaeological site in Northern Sardinia since it includes a central tower with two lateral towers, a well and a curtain wall. A place where you can observe the architecture and lifestyle of this ancient Mediterranean civilization in detail.

The Roccia del Fungo: a work of nature

This unusual rock, a natural monument in the town of Arzachena, is a big block of granite shaped like a mushroom. Remains found here show signs of human presence since prehistoric times and during the nuraghic age it was used for shelter. This is nature at work at its finest and it can be seen during a walk around the centre of Arzachena. And why not stop in the area for a picnic near the Costa Smeralda!

Porto Cervo

Why not end a tour of the East coast of the North of Sardinia among the characteristic alleys of Porto Cervo?
