The coast and port of Cannigione, the Giants’ Tomb of Coddhu Ecchju, the historic centre of Arzachena, Baia Sardinia, the square in Liscia di Vacca, and Abbiadori transform into a natural theatre for music, folklore, art, history, environment, and food and wine. This provides an unmissable opportunity to explore places often off the beaten tourist track.
In September, the International Festival Speaking Islands will make a stop in Arzachena with a preview at the Giants’ Tomb of Coddhu Ecchju on 2nd September. The famous archaeological site from the Nuragic era will resonate to the music of Spiralis Aurea Trio by Stefano Pilia, who composes pieces that translate his studies on the symbolic aspects of certain geometric shapes into tones and harmonies.
Traditional Sardinian music and dances will take the stage on 3rd September in Cannigione for the Tenores di Orosei concert and jazz artist Zoe Pia, while the San Pantaleo folk group is expected in Baja Sardinia on Saturday, 9th September.
Arzachena, a town on the Costa Smeralda, is getting ready to showcase the most picturesque corners of its historic centre with the Arzachena Experience Urban Trekking “Footprints of Time”, ahead of the festivities of its Patron Saint from 14th to 17th September, featuring performances, food and religious ceremonies. From 21st to 24th September, the centre will come alive for the 9th edition of the Summer in Bloom festival, an event dedicated to the environment that will embellish the historic centre of Arzachena with green installations from the best nurseries in Northern Sardinia. It’s an opportunity to enjoy good music, participate in workshops and conferences organised by the municipality.
October will focus on sports events, with the highly anticipated Terra Sarda Rally, now in its eleventh edition, taking place from 6th to 8th October. The coast of Cannigione will host an open water swimming race on Saturday, 30th September, followed by a swim run event the next day. Abbiadori is gearing up to host the City of Arzachena Trophy, a Karate kumite and Kata Fijlkam championship. There will also be a focus on literature with the fifth edition of the “Freely Above the Lines” literary festival at the Michele Ruzittu civic museum on 12th October.
